A Journey Built on Experience and Community
It all started with Mark Palmer, our founder and CEO, who launched his career at just 20 years old in Michigan’s construction industry, building new homes and focusing on kitchens. Driven by ambition and passion, Mark relocated to South Carolina at age 23, specializing in kitchen installations. By 28, he was managing sales for a lumber yard in Columbia, SC, and in 1994, he became a representative for Marsh Furniture, serving North Florida and Southern Georgia.
Mark’s journey wasn’t without challenges, including navigating the 2007-2008 housing crash, which deeply impacted the industry. But in true entrepreneurial spirit, Mark pivoted, and when his largest client closed its cabinet business in 2019, he saw an opportunity to protect jobs and keep the dream alive. That’s when KDS was born, starting with a dedicated six-person crew and a showroom in Georgetown, GA.
Today, we’re proud to be a team of over 35 people, with thriving kitchen showrooms across the Lowcountry. In 2022, we opened a studio showroom in Hilton Head, SC, serving prominent communities like Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes. March 2024 saw the launch of our Beaufort, SC showroom, reaching beloved neighborhoods such as Habersham. Just this past October, we celebrated the opening of our expansive Bluffton, SC showroom near The Crescent and Hampton Hall. And we’re thrilled to announce our state-of-the-art headquarters and showroom in Richmond Hill, GA, opening in Spring 2025.
