Project Overview:
Situated in the Parkside neighborhood of historic Savannah, GA, the goal was a complete transformation of a 1950s house into an open, mid-century modern space. The cramped kitchen necessitated an expansion, more lighting, and enhanced functionality, drawing inspiration from a previous renovation project to streamline the design process.
Problem:
Numerous challenges arose during the renovation process. Relocating all the plumbing proved to be a daunting task, compounded by the pressure of working under a deadline. Removing the wall between the dining room and kitchen to create an island required supporting the ceiling with a concealed beam, adding complexity to the project. Additionally, the outdated electrical systems in the 70-year-old house needed extensive updating.
Solution:
The solution involved incorporating more storage, open bar stool seating, and seamlessly blending the kitchen with the dining area to create an inviting space. Despite the challenges, the overall satisfaction with Kitchen Design Solutions was high, with the cabinets proving to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The renovation also featured special cabinetry accessories such as spice and trash pullouts, along with high-quality plumbing fixtures and appliances sourced from reputable suppliers, contributing to the success of the project.
