Overview:
The family had a distinct vision when embarking on their kitchen renovation journey. Their primary objective was to craft a space that not only displayed their cherished glass collection but also paid tribute to Grandma Pat’s memory. Over the years, they had amassed a collection of hand-blown glass pieces from Blenco, a renowned glassblowing factory in Milton, West Virginia, known for its vibrant hues. These pieces held profound sentimental value, having been collected by their grandmother. Drawing inspiration from Grandma Pat’s passion for art and her favorite color, a striking shade of blue affectionately termed “Aunt Pat Blue,” they decided to incorporate this color into their kitchen backsplash, creating a homage to her legacy.
The chosen hue not only honored Grandma Pat but also contributed to the coastal ambiance they wished to infuse into their kitchen, imbuing the space with warmth and character. Illuminated cabinets were strategically integrated to elegantly showcase their treasured glass collection. The original kitchen, characterized by its outdated, dark, and enclosed design, felt incongruous within their lively home. Therefore, introducing a gas cooktop was imperative, aligning with their shared enthusiasm for cooking and their desire for a kitchen that would facilitate their culinary pursuits.
