Overview:
In a quiet corner of Marshwood section of The Landings on Skidaway Island, this 1979 home was ready for a fresh start. Though it had undergone a minor renovation back in 2014, the kitchen still felt stuck in another era. The homeowners wanted more than just an upgrade—they wanted a transformation to fit their Landings’ style of life. Their goal was clear: create a bright, functional space with a coastal feel that matched their lifestyle and love of entertaining.
They partnered with Kitchen Design Solutions to bring their vision to life, focusing on flow, storage, and timeless style. The result is a kitchen that not only looks beautiful, but works beautifully too.
The Problem:
The original kitchen was weighed down by dark finishes and a layout that didn’t support how the homeowners actually used the space. The appliances were outdated, storage was limited, and the refrigerator wasn’t nearly big enough. Cooking had become a chore in a kitchen that simply wasn’t designed for it.
They also had a long wish list: a coffee bar with liquor storage, an appliance garage, a pot filler, a second sink in the island, under-island storage for fold-up tables, and a larger work sink to replace the old divided one. They needed better organization, more prep space, and an island large enough to gather around. They were committed to the vision.
