Before and After Kitchen Case Study

Overview:

A homeowner sought to transform her outdated and mismatched kitchen into a harmonious space that embraced the Hilton Head Island aesthetic. This case study outlines the challenges faced and the solutions implemented to achieve the desired kitchen transformation.

Problem:

  • Aesthetic Transformation: To address the aesthetic issue, the homeowner selected a natural, elegant color scheme that reflected the Hilton Head Island, SC ambiance. They selected a “Salt” off-white finish for the upper cabinets, “Graphite” warm-stained-maple wood and complemented them with a white quartz countertop featuring subtle grey veining, extending seamlessly as a backsplash.
  • Storage Enhancement: The removal of the obstructive desk near the refrigerator created space for floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinets. These cabinets were equipped with drawers and doors, featuring interior lighting for a discreet yet accessible storage solution for the homeowner’s appliances. Additionally, the laundry room’s back wall was repurposed into an organized pantry with pull-out shelves.
  • Floor Restoration: The existing square tile floor was rejuvenated by steam-cleaning the grout, restoring its original brightness.
  • Appliance Preservation: The project retained the homeowner’s existing stainless front appliances, including a Sub-Zero Refrigerator, KitchenAid range, and KitchenAid dishwasher.
  • Functional Upgrades: An under-mount work sink and satin bronze door hardware were installed, enhancing the kitchen’s functionality and aesthetics.

I didn’t realize how bad my kitchen was before until I completed the renovation. I absolutely LOVE my new kitchen!

Solution:

  • Creating Calm and Concealing Clutter: The successful implementation of these solutions transformed the homeowner’s kitchen into a space that not only met her design preferences but also addressed her storage and accessibility needs. The homeowner expressed her satisfaction with the final result, remarking, “I am absolutely delighted with my new kitchen. I had underestimated how challenging the previous kitchen was.” This case study illustrates how thoughtful design, toned-down color schemes, and practical solutions can bring about a significant improvement in a kitchen renovation project.
