Solution:

To avoid the common trend of white cabinets, the homeowners opted for a bold two-tone design. They selected the 5-panel Savannah style in carbon grey stain from Marsh Cabinets for the lower cabinets, and for the upper cabinets, they chose the Concord style in natural white oak from Shiloh Cabinetry, with some featuring glass panels in the doors. To enhance functionality and organization, we incorporated custom features such as glass cabinet doors, a built-in utensil holder, a hidden paper towel holder, two pull-out trash drawers, and a utensil pull-out drawer.

The homeowners chose to work with John due to their niece’s positive experience, and overall, the process went smoothly. While there were a few minor issues, such as the symmetry around the dishwasher and a discolored drawer, John quickly resolved them. The existing skylights helped brighten the space, especially since a window above the sink wasn’t an option in their patio home.

Though they’ve only had the remodeled kitchen for a short time, the homeowners are extremely satisfied with both the design and the product. They now enjoy the space much more and appreciate the increased functionality and organization.

Overview:

The homeowners had a functional kitchen, but it lacked personal style and modern features. They wanted a space that was both visually appealing and practical, blending seamlessly with their lifestyle. The remodel was the perfect opportunity to refresh the kitchen’s look and improve functionality while ensuring it wouldn’t disrupt their daily routines or lifestyle.

They learned about Kitchen Design Solutions through their niece, whose kitchen we recently completed. Like them, she faced the challenge of fitting a perfectly sized island in a smaller kitchen. Inspired by her results, the couple reached out to us to transform their own space in The Landings.

Problem:

One of the homeowners’ primary design choices was avoiding the common trend of white cabinets. The granite countertops, while practical, made it hard to see crumbs and small spills. The dated cabinetry darkened the space, giving the kitchen a closed-off feel, while the L-shaped counter contributed to a segmented, boxed-in layout.

Space was a significant concern in their kitchen, particularly when it came to sizing the island. If too large, it will reduce space; if too small, it will lose functionality. Striking the right balance in size was crucial to ensure a spacious and efficient layout. HOA rules at prevent a window above the sink, leaving a walled-off niche. This required creative solutions to make the kitchen feel more open without physically opening the space.

The designer captured what I was looking for. The cabinets came in on time, the installers were excellent and any minor problem was quickly resolved to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend John and his crew.
